This week I got my very first taste of New York Fashion Week and attended the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference in SoHo. It was such an amazing experience and if you are thinking about going next year, do it!

The highlight of my week involved meeting new bloggers and influential bloggers in person and hearing their own stories. Its so interesting to meet the faces behind the bigger blogs and hear that their own personal anecdotes aren't so different from our own.

Taylor Sterling, founder of the Glitter Guide, talked about how she was laid off from her full time job and took that opportunity to start her lovely fashion and lifestyle newsletter. She is super gracious in person and I absolutely love her style (hello gingham button down paired with ripped skinny jeans and heels. Perfection).

Kendi Skeen, owner of Bloom and KendiEveryday, spoke about being a store owner and how you just have to go for it. I love how she said, "I'm exhausted all the time, but I love what I do." I spoke with Kendi afterwards and she is so down to earth and gave really great advice on starting a brick and mortar. She is in person exactly how you think she would be from reading her blog-->genuine and adorable.

I also met some fabulous new friends and fellow bloggers from all over the country. We chatted about fashion, blogging, and life in general. Let me introduce you...

Jaclyn from Sharing My Sole. Great girl and fellow Starbucks addict.
Lauren from LA in the Bay. So bubbly and friendly and how about that bag? Obsessed.
Whitley from the Queen City Style, Nicole from Manners and Moxie, and Elspeth from Elle Bow Room
I love these girls!
Diana from Collegiatechic, Sheri from Sprinkles & Style, and Jaclyn. My partners in crime.
En route home. Until next time...

Things I learned:
Its time to get a big girl camera asap.
If it were easy everyone would do it.
Navy and black look just fine together.
Iman does not age.

Stay tuned for more photos next week.
Too many for one post!

Hmm i've been wearing navy basketball with shorts with black t shirts for a long time and my sisters always criticized me for wearing "Blavy"

I'll have to tell them my look is endorsed by a fashion blogger :)

I was just about to buy a shirt like the navy one you have on, with the open lace front today, but wasn't sure if I was sold on the look. Love it. I'm going back to buy it tomorrow!

Love this post -- sounds like you had a great time, learned a lot, and met some awesome people! I love the "Thing I Learned", it's so true, if it were easy, everybody would do it.
