What Items Were On Your Wedding Registry?

It's time for us to register for wedding gifts and I am shocked at how many items are "recommended" to put on a wedding registry. There are about 4,000 different types of forks and bowls to choose from and I can't say with any certainty that I'll ever use a demitasse spoon. Maybe? Doubtful. Sorry Martha.

This article talks about things one woman wishes she put on her registry and why you should think first before scanning every glass bowl and plate you can get your hands on. I also just came across this wonderful list of ten awesome things to add to your registry from Target. I'm all in with the plain white dishes and then mixing in colorful bowls + pieces later down the road.

If you're married, engaged, or have any insider info, I'd love to know your thoughts.
What items do you think are essential to have on a registry? Any things you wish you would have added? How about wildcard items.
Can you put a grill on there, for real?

How about these

registries are so tricky! we are getting married soon and opted out of doing a registry as our wedding will be smaller and we would rather be surprised. granted our guests might prefer some direction...oh well!

i think a great way to begin is to start pinning kitchen and basic home items that you love and get your inspiration from there then total up how much is too much and exactly what you desire in your kitchen (and home!) then lastly head out to the shops with specific things in mind! I think it can be overwhelming when couples register at over three shops so I would keep it simple! Just some ideas :)!

When we went to register they told us to register for 3 times the amount of guests we had invited. We thought that number was INSANE, so we wound up registering for around the same amount of items as the people coming, which turned out fine. There wasn't a TON left towards the end, but we also didn't register for(and get) a bunch of things we didn't want. I would recommend thinking about what you'll want in your kitchen ONE DAY, not necessarily this day. You don't have to go crazy, but even if you don't bake often, spatulas are good to have around. And a good set of pots/pans is something that no one wants to buy for themselves, but you will use them! Two things I'm super glad we got -- two sets of sheets(so nice to be able to put on new sheets even if I can't do laundry that day!) and two sets of silverware...16 is enough for our whole family, 8 wouldn't have been!

Have fun registering!

my favorite things and the first I got were the Le Creuset pieces and the Kitchen Aid mixer in cobalt blue! But also loved getting our wedding china!

enjoy the process!

I was really happy that I did the traditional china and use it all the time for fancy dinner parties. The hubby did the whole "good" knives thing (in fact he was insistent. Kept him involved. So much fun to do together. Have fun!!
