A Maxi Skirt For All Seasons

Maxi skirt: Anthropologie / Top: Madewell / Necklace: Anthropologie / Shoes: Report / Watch: Michael Kors / Clutch: Bought in a boutique in Key West

I bought this maxi skirt from Anthropologie a few years ago and it is my absolute favorite. I wish I had bought it in the bright pink too, its just that bad ass. I really wanted to avoid wearing jeans out to dinner Friday night in Philly + wear something more spring inspired. Its always challenging to make a maxi dress or skirt work in the early spring months. Its just chilly enough to need sleeves, but warm enough that you must. wear. the maxi.

Here is how I rocked my favorite maxi skirt in early spring...

Tip: The maxi skirt must fit perfectly in the waist so that you can tuck a top in. If it sits too low or is too big, it won't work for this look.

Top: Go with something lightweight that has a tiny bit of slouch to it. Not skin tight. My top is the Madewell sweatshirt sweater. This tee would also work perfectly.

Skirt: Flowy + fitted in the waist is all you need to make this work. My skirt is from Anthropologie a few years ago, but this maxi would also work.

Jewelry: The bolder the better. The more lightweight and basic the tee, the more you can accessorize. My collar necklace is sold out, but here is a similar piece. I did a post on Neon Necklaces here that will give you a few great ideas.

Shoes: This can get tricky. Its not warm enough yet for sandals + I wanted something with a heel. I rave about these Report booties all the time, but they really do work with everything. Mine are "sand", but I think I may have bought the last pair on Earth. These are also a great option. Be sure to avoid anything with a super pointy toe. You may give off a crazy witch vibe. No bueno.

There you have it, a maxi skirt for all seasons.
What is your favorite way to wear a maxi skirt? I'd love to know.

I wore something really similar to this a few weeks ago, and just loved it. Totally agree about the maxi skirt needing to fit just right. You look beautiful!

Gorgeousness! I love flowy maxi skirts, but always have a hard time with the shoes too... booties are a good compromise!
