During the J. Crew Style Sessions last week I had to restrain myself from attempting to take home everything in the store. There is an overwhelming amount of goodness in there right now from embellishments to jewels. It's all so tempting...

I snagged this black fluted skirt, which I was skeptical about at first. I'm an avid maxi dress + maxi skirt lover, but not so much into shorter skirts. However, I try everything on for this exact reason. The fluted shape is super flattering and the crepe material is gorgeous. It sits slightly above the waist without being too short, so it can be worn to just about anything.

I plan on wearing this with a slouchy sweater + booties in the fall. A chambray shirt and ballet flats would also work for an easy everyday look.

Tee: J. Crew ( this works too + so does this )

If you are at all skeptical about shorter skirts, go try this one on.
It will make you a believer.

I think a basic black skirt like that is a totally wise choice...i have one just like that from BCBG and wear it all the time for work and going out, it was totally worth it
